Why It’s Selfish NOT to Follow Your Passion

Hey, friend! This is going to be another short piece this week. You may have noticed I’ve been a little MIA when it comes to posting blog posts. If you’ve been following me for at least the last month, then you know I recently published my first book! And that took up a TON of my time finishing writing, editing publishing, and then promoting.

You can check it out here!

I’m also working on another HUGE project that I will be releasing soon that has been taking up a lot of my time as well. Stay tuned for more information coming out soon! It will actually affect my posts here even further, but in a good way.

But anyway, I digress. Something that has been coming up a lot in my business recently from jumping on calls with potential clients and from talking with other entrepreneurs in my Facebook Group, is that sometimes we forget that it’s pretty selfish not to share our gifts with the world.

As humans, we collect a lot of information throughout our years of living. We get educations, learn from jobs, from friends, from teaching ourselves how to do things, from experiences we go through et cetera.

And often times, we learn things that we KNOW can help others. But because of our own fears and limiting beliefs, we never pursue them and we don’t help others as a result.

Let me put it this way: Let’s say that you have been someone who has struggled with coping with anxiety for years and year and years. You’ve had your ups and your downs, you’ve had your rock bottoms, and you’ve had your highest of highs. And after years of working through your anxiety, implementing various techniques (most of which didn’t work), you’ve finally found what works best for you to manage your anxiety.

But now, you have ALL of this information about how to cope with anxiety; something that you know that millions of people all over the world suffer from. And you know that the knowledge, wisdom and information you have would be so useful to others.

You’ve been thinking of starting your own business where you spread your knowledge and help others cope with their anxiety. But, you’re scared. You’re terrified of stepping out of that comfort zone, worried you really won’t be able to help people, and you have no clue where to get started.

You’re letting all of these fears hold you back. And your fears are keeping you from helping other people who really need your help!

Wouldn’t you say in this case that letting your fears get the better of you and not pursuing your business to help others is selfish?

I think so too.

This doesn’t mean I don’t understand, because I certainly do! I’ve been there. I held myself back from pursuing my business because of my own insecurities and fears for months!

But when I realized that I could truly help others, I knew I could no longer hold back.

You not only have an obligation to share your passions, your knowledge, and your expertise with the world (whatever that means for you), but you also have an obligation to yourself!

Can you imagine that instead of working a boring 9-5 that you’re not at all passionate about, you were instead running your own company teaching people what you’re passionate about?

Can you imagine the sense of purpose, the pride and the happiness you’d feel?

So what are you waiting for? The time is now. Go for it.

Sending you positive vibes!
